Open Retreats at SPEC

Following our successful Open Retreats in 2008, we are expanding our Open Retreat Programme at SPEC. Like all our retreats, the Open Retreats include time for prayer and reflection, outdoor activities, discussions and workshops, music and liturgy. If you've been to SPEC before or are interested in coming for the first time, an Open Retreat is a great oppertunity to take time out, learn more about yourself and faith, and meet new people.

Unfortunately our Open Retreat Programme has finished for this year.

If you are interested in attending an event at SPEC or coming on retreat, just contact us by mail, email or phone, or online by clicking on the Enquiry Form link on the right.

The Road Less Travelled
Open Retreat
Wednesday 4th November – Friday 6th November 2009

Walking the road less travelled means to be you and to choose to do things for the good of yourself and for the people around you, to choose to do the right thing.’ It takes courage to choose to do something different to everyone else. This is the invitation from God – to walk the road less travelled, but the promise is that he is with us and will stay with us, no matter what.
This is retreat is for individuals and groups aged 16 - 19 years old.

One bread, one body, one Lord
Open Retreat
Wednesday 11th November – Friday 13th November 2009

We who are many are one body, for we all partake of the one bread (1 Cor 10: 17)

God calls us all to seek, to know and to love Him. As Catholic Christians, we meet God in at Mass, in the sharing of bread, and we become one body, with one Lord. This retreat explores what this mystery means for us? What do we have in common that makes us one and how can we live this one-ness out in our everyday lives?

This retreat is for 6th Form groups.

Christ the King
Open Retreat
Friday 20th November – Sunday 22nd November 2009

As Christians, we believe that Jesus Christ is our King and we are part of His Kingdom. During this retreat, we will explore what it means for us to be part of Christ’s Kingdom. What is the Kingdom of God like? What life does God call us to, if we want to live in His Kingdom?

This retreat is aimed at young people who have been confirmed in the last two years

Here are some comments from last years’ retreatants:

"It truly is an experience of a lifetime and something I will never forget"

"Archery was awesome"

"I’ve become stronger in faith"

"I have more confidence in myself and what I can do"
